"A remembrance of Your abundant goodness they will utter, and of Your righteousness they will sing exultantly." (Psalm 145:7)

The letter "zayin" is the sixth letter in the Hebrew alphabet, which begins the word "zecher" or "remembrance." With the numerical value of seven, it ties together the concepts of the commandment to remember the Sabbath, which is the seventh day. On this, the holiest day of the week, our neshamah (soul) is elevated as we abstain from secular and productive labor. We are liberated from mundane concerns as we focus our prayers on praising G-d, and rest our bodies.
