"May the Lord bless you from Zion, and may you look upon the glory of Jerusalem every day of your life. May you witness children born to your offspring, peace in Israel!" (Psalm 128)

The name "Yerushalayim" is a combination of the name Avraham Aveinu (Abraham our Father) gave to the city: "Hashem Yirah" (the Lord should see and choose) and the name "Shalem" (peace, or complete) as it was later known.

Yerushalayim is the walled city in Israel that was reclaimed by King David, who brought the Ark of the Covanent with him and set up the Mishkan (tabernacle). David's son and successor, Solomon, then built the Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple) on that site, which solidified Yerushalayim as the Jewish people's holiest city.
