"And of Your wondrous works, the people shall speak, and Your greatness they shall relate." (Psalm 145:6)

The letter "vav" is the sixth letter in the Hebrew alphabet, meaning "and" when placed at the beginning of a word. The first line of the Torah (Bible) opens with "In the beginning, G-d was creating the heavens and the earth." The vav connects heaven to earth, just as we are physical beings with a spiritual component. The hook-shape of the top of the letter vav reaches upwards, grabbing and connecting both worlds.
