"The Lord spoke to Moses saying, 'On the day of the first new moon, on the first day of the month, you shall build the Mishkan, the Tent of Meeting. There, you shall keep the Ark of Testimony....'"
(Shemos 40:1)

The "Mishkan" (Tabernacle) was the portable sanctuary the Jewish people carried throughout their journey in the desert. It remained Israel's primary sanctuary until the first Beit HaMikdash (Holy Temple) was built by Shlomo HaMelech (King Solomon).

Items used and found in the Mishkan, depicted in the painting, were the Choshen (the 12 stoned breastplate worn by the Kohen Gadol), the Ark of the Covenant, and the seven candle Menorah that was shaped out of a single ingot of gold.
