Chai, the Hebrew word for “life”, is a combination of the letters chet and yud. The numerical value of these letters is eighteen, multiples of which are often given as charity to remind us of the gift of life and the benevolence we are required to emulate.
Charity, tzedakah, is one of the pillars of the Jewish religion and an eternal practice of its people. This painting was composed to capture the kenetic energies of life. Within the Ketubah, celebrate the life of the bride, the life of the groom, and the life they will have together.
