"By David, a psalm. Of mercy and justice do I sing; unto Thee, G-d, will I sing praise." (Psalm 101)

"Daled" is the fourth letter in the Hebrew alphabet, and is the first letter in the name of Dovid HaMelech (David our King.) A six-pointed star is called the "Magen David" or "Shield of David." King David is credited with writing all 150 Psalms, songs created to be sung by the tribe of Levi at the Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple) in times of joy and fortune, praising the greatness of G-d. The letter "daled" is found in the top point of the star in the painting.
