Adam Rhine -Judaica Artist
Adam Rhine is a traditionally trained artist who has been
creating ornate, highly detailed Judaica watercolor paintings
from his home studio in since 1999. His style is heavily influenced by medieval
illuminated manuscripts, which he combines with modern palettes and aesthetics.
Each work is crafted to honor the infinite nobility of G-d, and to visually
bring forth His enerty within different combinations of overlapping shapes,
rich colors, and intricate patterns.
His artistic goal is to expand the world of Judaica painting beyond the primitive
style of Marc Chagall and his imitators into a more mandala-like intensity
of detail and abstract spirituality. Each design is deeply intertwined with
our 5,000 years of Jewish law, prayer, and tradition.
Growing up an incessant doodler and cartoonist, Adam decided to pursue art
at age 11. He graduated with a BFA in Commercial Illustration from Northern
Illinois University at age 22 and was awarded by a jury the opportunity for
a one-man show of 16 paintings his senior year.
In his professional life, he has animated educational videos, coordinated
the 2D/3D Animation Dept. for a video game company, and executed graphic/web
design for large corporate sites and e-learning applications.
He is also a member of the American Guild of Judaica Art. In September 2004,
Adam was interviewed by the Hallmark Channel to discuss his paintings and
inspirations.
Adam’s intense imagery can be found in the new "Hebrew
Illuminations" hardcover book, now available at Barnes & Noble
& Borders retail locations, as well as Amazon.com. His third concecutive
16-month best selling wall calendar of the same
name is now available for 2006-7.
Currently, Adam is accepting commissions for
private collectors and institutions, and offering a new line of customizable
Ketubah designs which incorporate his ornate designs
with your favorite text. Contact him via email,
